Why coins usually return more per gram than jewellery
Investment coins are typically 24K, about 99.9% gold, against roughly 91.6% for 22K jewellery. They also contain no stones, thread, solder or clasps, so net weight is effectively the same as gross weight. Both facts push the per-gram payout higher.
The trade-off happened at purchase, not sale: coins are bought at a small premium over the metal rate. When you sell, the premium is not recoverable, so a coin is valued on its gold content at the live rate — which is still the cleanest resale in the gold market.
What we buy
Any gold coin, biscuit or bar, whatever its origin or condition.
- Bank-issued investment coins in original or opened packaging
- Jeweller and mint coins, festive and wedding gift coins
- Religious coins — Lakshmi, Ganesh, Balaji and similar designs
- Gold biscuits and bars from 1 g to 1 kg and above
- Foreign coins, sovereigns and older bullion pieces
- Scratched, dented or unsealed coins — metal value is unaffected
How coin valuation works
Each coin is weighed individually on certified scales, then XRF tested so purity is confirmed rather than assumed from the stamp. Value is net weight × tested purity ÷ 24 × the live 24K rate. Because coins are near-pure, the arithmetic is short and easy to check at the counter.
If a coin appears rare or antique, we say so instead of melting-value pricing it quietly. In those cases you may be better served by a numismatic buyer, and we will tell you rather than let the collector value disappear into a scrap calculation.
Selling large quantities
For sales involving several hundred grams or more, a short call ahead helps us prepare payment and secure handling in advance. Large transactions are normally completed within an hour once the coins are on the counter.
PAN is required for high-value sales, and payment above the cash limit is made by instant bank transfer in line with the applicable rules. Every transaction is billed and documented.
