Platinum vs white gold: why testing matters
Platinum and white gold look almost identical once polished, and rhodium plating makes them harder still to tell apart by eye. They are, however, entirely different metals with different prices. Selling platinum as white gold — or the reverse — produces a wrong number in either direction.
Stamps help: platinum is usually marked PT, PT950, PLAT or 950, while white gold carries a karat mark such as 18K or 750. Stamps wear off and are sometimes placed on a clasp rather than the body, so at CMG the stamp is a starting point and XRF is the answer.

How platinum valuation works
The method mirrors our gold process. Items are cleaned, non-metal parts separated, net weight established on certified scales, and purity confirmed by XRF. Value is net weight × tested purity × the live platinum rate per gram, shown as separate lines on your bill.
Because platinum jewellery is commonly 950 — higher than the 91.6% of 22K gold jewellery — the purity multiplier is usually strong. The variable that decides your final figure is the platinum market price on the day you sell.
Where to sell platinum
Bring your platinum to our Indore MG Road branch or Ahmedabad Nikol branch, Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 8 PM. Testing is free and carries no obligation, so you can simply confirm what metal you own and take it home again.
Free doorstep valuation is available in both cities, with the same portable XRF testing at your table.
