Where to check the latest available gold rate
Use Check Today’s Gold Rate to open Know My Gold. Review any source, date and unit information shown there before calculating. This guide does not display a live feed or claim that an automatically refreshed market rate is available on CMG.
If a rate is quoted per 10 grams, divide by 10 before comparing it with a per-gram price. A price per kilogram cannot be compared directly with either. Also check whether any tax or charge is included and whether the number is a reference price, retail price or buying offer.
24K, 22K, 18K and 14K prices are not interchangeable
Karat describes the proportion of gold in an alloy. Commercial 24K products are often marked 999, meaning 99.9% fineness. Common jewellery marks are 916 for 22K, 750 for 18K and 585 for 14K. These are nominal purity descriptions, not a promise that an untested item matches its stamp.
A higher-purity alloy contains more gold for the same net weight. A 24K reference rate can support an indicative gold-content calculation, but do not apply a purity factor again if the rate you are using already refers to 22K or 18K. Confirm the basis first.
Reference prices, retail prices and buying offers
Bullion or reference prices describe a market benchmark for a particular purity and unit. Jewellery retail prices can include design, manufacturing, stone value and applicable taxes. A resale offer concerns the item actually being assessed, not the cost of buying an equivalent new ornament.
A buyer’s quote may use a different basis from a publicly displayed reference price. Ask which rate applies to your piece, how its net weight was measured and which adjustments are proposed. Compare the final payable amount and the written explanation, not only the largest advertised number.
Why gold rates change
International gold prices, exchange rates, domestic duties, market supply and demand can influence Indian price references. Different publication times and local quote conventions can also produce different displayed figures. There is no single number that describes every retail purchase and resale transaction.
Rate information does not predict future returns. If you are deciding whether to sell, consider your needs and seek an item-specific valuation rather than relying on a promise that prices will rise or fall.
What changes the rate you receive
The purity of the alloy, non-gold components, condition relevant to assessment and the buyer’s stated terms can affect the offer. Weight from an old invoice may differ from the net weight measured now, especially for stone-set or repaired pieces.
Use Know My Gold for an indicative estimate, then request a transparent valuation from CMG. Ask for the rate and assessment terms at the time of the offer; an earlier estimate is not a locked selling price.
